Are FIU Online courses synchronous or asynchronous?

Most coursework is asynchronous with weekly deadlines; some faculty may add occasional live sessions. See each program page for details. FIU Online

Do these programs lead to Florida teacher certification?

• Graduate Curriculum & Instruction tracks are not initial licensure programs (they deepen practice for current/aspiring educators).

Tell me more about the BS in Special Education, Educational Foundations, and Policy Major (Fully Online)

This is a NON-initial teacher preparation program in ESE K-12 that will allow students to focus on coursework that allows for more flexibility so students can determine if they want to seek alternate educator certification, coursework in an ESE-related field (e.g., Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst), or to prepare for future career goals and advanced degrees (e.g., school psychology). While allowing you to seek temporary certification to start teaching, this degree does not meet the requirements of a professional certificate (or the TSL and Reading Endorsement). FTCE tests and an internship are not required for the completion of the degree.
